How to reduce WhatsApp API costs

Using the platform's own data, the Talqui Observatory shows how much companies stopped paying Meta since every service message became billable, by moving the conversation from WhatsApp to Web Chat.

Live

Real platform data, streamed straight from Talqui's production database with up to a 1-hour display delay, and auditable. Updated on 10/30/26 at 02:09.

That is 114,915 service messages Meta never billed.
Where the savings come from

The conversation leaves WhatsApp and carries on in Web Chat

Since 10/01/2026 Meta bills every reply sent through the official WhatsApp API. With Talqui's WhatsApp to Web Chat, the customer gets an invite to carry on in Web Chat, in the same inbox and with the recent history. The invite can go out on its own, in the automatic reply to the first message, or be sent by the agent in one click. From then on, messages no longer go through Meta.

  1. The customer writes on WhatsApp Replies sent on WhatsApp are billed, as in any conversation.
  2. The invite goes out on its own or from the agent With the automatic reply on, the customer gets a button to continue the conversation right on the first message. The agent can also send the invite in one click. The link opens Web Chat on the phone, already identified and with the recent conversation.
  3. The rest of the conversation is not billed Files, questions and the wrap-up happen on Web Chat, outside Meta's price list. That difference is what the counter adds up.

Methodology

How the number is calculated

The counter uses only Talqui data, no market estimates. Every value starts from messages actually sent on Web Chat after a channel switch.

What is counted
Agent messages only

Agent messages sent on Web Chat after the customer accepted an invite, automatic or sent by the agent, from a WhatsApp conversation. Customer messages stay out, because Meta does not bill them.

Rate applied
US$ 0.0068 per message

Meta's rate for a service message in Brazil: US$ 0.0068, the same one the WhatsApp to Web Chat calculator uses.

Updates
Up to 1 h delay

The counter reads Talqui's production database every 5 minutes, with up to 1 hour of delay. Between reads, it moves at the pace of the last 7 days.

Privacy
Aggregated totals only

Only aggregated numbers are published. No company, contact or conversation content is shown or can be identified.

Questions about WhatsApp API costs

Where the numbers come from and how to lower your Meta bill.

Still have questions? Talk to us at

Where do the Talqui Observatory numbers come from?

From the Talqui platform itself. The counter adds up the service messages that were not sent on WhatsApp because the conversation carried on in Web Chat. No number comes from market research.

Why did the official WhatsApp API get more expensive?

Since October 1, 2026 Meta bills every service message, the replies sent inside the 24-hour window, which used to be free. In Brazil it is US$ 0.0068 per message, with no volume discount.

Does the customer need to install anything to use Web Chat?

No. The invite is a link that opens Web Chat in the phone's browser, with the customer already identified and the recent history of the conversation.

Does the agent have to send the invite in every conversation?

No. In the official WhatsApp connection settings, turn on the automatic reply and the Suggest a channel switch option, picking Web Chat as the destination. Every new conversation then gets, on its first message, the automatic reply with a button that takes the customer to Web Chat. Agents can still send the invite by hand whenever they prefer.

How do I know how much my company would save?

Use the calculator on the WhatsApp to Web Chat page: enter how many conversations you have a day, how many messages your team sends in each and how many usually move to Web Chat.

Can I quote this data in an article or study?

Yes, citing the Talqui Observatory as the source and the period shown on the counter. For a more detailed cut, reach us at the email in this section.
